Naracoorte is home to the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in South Australia, the incredible Naracoorte Caves. For at least 500,000 years, the Caves have been preserving fossils spanning several ice ages, the arrival of humans in the area and the extinction of Australia’s iconic Megafauna roughly 60,000 years ago. The Naracoorte Caves are an absolute must when traveling to Naracoorte or the Limestone Coast.
Naracoorte Lucindale is known for its well-maintained open green spaces. Enjoy the clean and scenic parks, gardens, playgrounds or ovals for a relaxing picnic, a play with the kids, a kick and a catch, or just relax and read a book in the peaceful surroundings.
Recreation facilities are many and varied, including golf, tennis, football, netball, hockey, basketball, soccer, lawn bowls, squash, water skiing, horse riding…. the list is virtually endless.
Set in glorious grounds, the huge man-made Naracoorte Swimming Lake with concrete floor and walls and chlorinated water ranges from 1m to 2m deep in the middle of the lake. There are shallow sections for the littlies, deeper sections for lane swimming, a diving pontoon and an enclosed children’s area.
